World Leading Tech Company Supports YLC

Nord VPN

YLC is excited to welcome NordVPN as a in-kind sponsor. We had a chat with Alicja Olzewska, Program Coordinator at NordVPN for non-profits and asked her why they chose to support YLC.

1. What made NordVPN, a well known VPN, committed to an open internet, choose to support Your Life Counts?

Corporate sponsorships and donations from VPN providers are not yet that common. NordVPN is among the very few VPN services that have a clearly established support program for non-profits, journalists and human rights advocates. Although our focus is more towards organizations specifically fighting for digital rights and internet freedom, we also believe that everyone should be able to access the internet in private and without the fear of being watched or controlled. Thus, our decision to support Your Life Counts organization.

2. For those who don’t know your company, who is NordVPN?

NordVPN is the world’s most advanced Virtual Private Network (VPN) provider. It secures your internet data with military-grade encryption, ensures that your online activity remains private from prying eyes, and helps access content online without censorship or surveillance.

3. NordVPN has been operating since 2012, and was rated by PC Magazine as best VPN service in 2017. That’s quite an accomplishment, one of many. What is the ethos at NordVPN?

The NordVPN name was inspired by Nordic ideals of confidence, trust, and innovation. It reflects how we value our customers’ freedom of choice, how we strive to be innovative with our technology and the way we work. Through a focus on robust education, superior support, and ongoing product development, we’re fighting for a truly open internet available to all.

4. The World Health Organization estimates that every 80 seconds someone dies by suicide. What do you think all of us can be doing to provide hope and reasons to live?

We all could try to be less self-centric and more caring about those around us, creating a support network for each other. Also, expressing gratitude each day for even the smallest things and reminding ourselves of life’s little pleasures could help drive away dark thoughts in the moments of crisis.
